The keyboard layout on the Brother PT-18R is the QWERTY arrangement with a total of 58 keys for user-friendly design on the printer. The display screen of the printer is made of an LCD screen of 15 characters by two lines and a graphics display resolution of 48 by 128 dots per inch. There is however no LCD backlit with the screen.
The compatible languages that the printer supports are English and French languages. The LCD screen contrast can be set between +2 to -2 to span five different levels. The compatible barcodes with this printer include the CODE 39/I-2/5, the EAN13/EAN8 and the CODABAR/EAN128. The printer can use up to 10 templates and can carry out a frame and fill pattern function for up to 14 different places.
The printer is also capable of left, center and right alignments of documents for accurate formatting. There is also the mirror printing feature if required by the user, but users cannot rotate the printing with this device. The device is also capable of automatic page numbering from 1 to 99 but without the split printing of multiple pages on a sheet.
The compatible fonts with this printer are up to four, the Helsinki, Belgium, Brussels, and Florida with the characteristic styles of Italics, Bold, Normal, Outline and Shadow at the font size of 12. Note: Do not connect the USB cable until requested by the installer. If you connect to the network, make sure the network cable is connected before running the installer
Windows
- Close all software programs running on your computer.
- Turn on the printer.
- Click the Download button on this page.
- Click the downloaded file. The files will be extracted and the installation process will automatically begin.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to continue and complete the installation.
Mac
- Download the file. For the location where the file is saved, check the computer settings.
- Double-click the downloaded file and mount it on the Disk Image.
- Then Double-click the mounted Disk Image.
- Double-click the packaged file in the folder. Installation starts automatically.
To install later, select Save in step 4 and choose a location on your hard disk. When ready to install, search and double-click the file. This will automatically extract and start the installation process. Follow the instructions on the screen to continue the installation.
