Printing functions

The maximum printing resolution is at 1200 x 1200 dpi (black and white) for a speed of 22 ppm for monochrome and 21 ppm for colored. The printer driver emulations include PCL 3 GUI. The printer functioning based on an HP Thermal Inkjet technology. Although the monthly duty cycle is maximally at 1000 pages, the recommended cycle is only 300-400 pages monthly.

Copying functions

The copying resolution is at 300 x 300 dpi for monochrome and 600 x 600 dpi for colored. Copying speed is 21 ppm for monochrome and 19 ppm for colored pages. The document to be copied can be enlarged up to 400% as reduced to 25% with a maximum of 25 copies.

Scanning functions

The scanning resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi with a grayscale depth of 8-bit and a color depth of 24-bit. Scan element is CIS.

Fax functions

The fax machine features 99 stations broadcasting 20 stations. The device has a black and white delayed transmission. It also features Distinction Ring Detection (DRD), auto reduction, automatic redialing, color faxing, fax forwarding and junk fax barrier. The maximum transmission speed is 33.6 Kbps with a total memory capacity of 100 pages. The fax resolutions are 196 x 208 dpi, 200 x 208 dpi, 300 x 311 dpi and 98 x 208 dpi. It supports the PC faxing.

Connectivity and Mobile Printing

Connectivity is by Hi-speed USB port or by a direct wireless connection enabled for printing from mobile devices. These devices include smartphones, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, tablets, etc. the mobile printing supports Apple AirPrint, HP ePrint, and wireless direct printing. The technology of the connection involves four-pin USB Type A, RJ-11, RJ-45.

Media Size support

The HP Officejet 5740 supports a wide range of paper sizes, ranging from A4/Legal (primary) to A5, A6, B5, B6, envelopes, letters, plain paper, film/transparencies, photo paper, etc. There are two different input trays of 125 and 15 sheets respectively. The output tray holds just 25 sheets.

Cartridges

There are two cartridges found in this printer; one is the monochrome cartridge for black and white printing. The other is the colored cartridge for printing cyan, magenta, and yellow colors. The nozzle configurations are 704 nozzles (black) and 608 nozzles (color).

Display

The diagonal size of the display screen is 2.65 inches or 6.75 cm. It is a touchscreen with moderate sensitivity. Physically, the dimensions of the printer are 19.6 x 9.7 x 19.3 inches (WDH) and weigh 20.2 lbs.

Power or Energy

The power consumption when the printer on is standby is 5.25 watts and when asleep but plugged in 1.18 watts.

[Installation Instructions] How to Download / Installation procedure

Note: Do not connect the USB cable until requested by the installer. If you connect to the network, make sure the network cable is connected before running the installer

Windows

• Close all software programs running on your computer.
• Turn on the printer.
• Click the Download button on this page.
• Click the downloaded file. The files will be extracted and the installation process will automatically begin.
• Follow the instructions on the screen to continue and complete the installation.

Mac

• Download the file. For the location where the file is saved, check the computer settings.
• Double-click the downloaded file and mount it on the Disk Image.
• Then Double-click the mounted Disk Image.
• Double-click the packaged file in the folder. Installation starts automatically.

To install later, select Save in step 4 and choose a location on your hard disk. When ready to install, search and double-click the file. This will automatically extract and start the installation process. Follow the instructions on the screen to continue the installation.
