THE Epson XP-420 printer model can produce the outstanding quality of print through a print-on-demand inkjet technology with the piezoelectric system. The nozzle configuration includes 180 nozzles for black printing, while the color nozzles include 59 for each color. Meanwhile, the color options include cyan, magenta, and yellow. It also has a system with a minimum ink droplet volume of about three picolitres (pl). Epson XP-420 model can produce 5760 x 1440 dots per inch (dpi).

However, this resolution is only attainable with a variable-sized droplet technology. In printing black documents on an A4-sized paper, the print speed is 9.0 ISO pages per minute (ppm). On the other hand, color printing under similar conditions has a speed of 4.5 ISO ppm. However, photo printing at the draft mode has an approximate print rate of 38 seconds per page for Epson Premium Glossy Photo paper.
In paper handling, the Epson XP-420 printer model supports A4, letter, legal, photo paper sizes, A6, B5, A5, and envelopes. The main input tray holds up to 100 sheets of plain A4 paper with an average weight of 75 gsm. It also supports media types such as premium glossy photo paper and plain paper on the flip side. As a multifunction device, it uses the flatbed color image sensor to produce high-quality scanned output.
The maximum document size for scanning is up to A4, while the scanning resolution is 1200 x 2400 dpi. It can produce monochrome scanned documents at 8.8 milliseconds per line for the 1200 dpi level. Note: Do not connect the USB cable until requested by the installer. If you connect to the network, make sure the network cable is connected before running the installer
Windows
- Close all software programs running on your computer.
- Turn on the printer.
- Click the Download button on this page.
- Click the downloaded file. The files will be extracted and the installation process will automatically begin.

Mac
- Download the file. For the location where the file is saved, check the computer settings.
- Double-click the downloaded file and mount it on the Disk Image.
