Processor

RAM
The minimum RAM for Windows 2000 and Windows XP is 128 MB while the recommended size is 256 MB. For Windows Vista and Windows 7, the minimum RAM size is 512 MB. Whereas, 1 GB or higher is more applicable to this version.
Hard disk space
After downloading the software, before installing, ensure there are at least the required recommendations of hard disk space. Windows 2000, XP (32-bit) requires 200 MB, and XP (64-bit) requires 410 MB at least, but HP recommends 500 MB. Whereas Windows Vista and Windows 7 needs a minimum disk space of 765 MB, but the manufacturer recommends 1.5 GB.

The HP Officejet Pro 8500 driver supports Mac OS X v10.4, v10.5, v10.6, and v10.7. The minimum processor for these versions is a PowerPC with G3, G4, G5 or an Intel Core Duo processor. The exception to this is the OS X 10.7 which demands an Intel Core 2 Duo or higher processor.
The Internal memory should be 256 MB of RAM while HP recommends 512 MB of RAM. Similarly, the exception to this feature is the OS X 10.7 version which requires 2 GB of RAM or higher. The minimum free disk space for these versions of Macintosh OS is 500 MB while HP recommends 800 MB.
Other essential requirements include CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive and an SVGA 800 x 600 monitor with 16-bit color depth.

Connectivity
The primary mode of connectivity is through the Hi-speed USB 2.0. Others are embedded networking port through the Ethernet and the memory card slot which is compatible for PictBridge. Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 and QuickTime 5.0 are also essential apps for the smooth working of this device.
Paper Handling

Note: Do not connect the USB cable until requested by the installer. If you connect to the network, make sure the network cable is connected before running the installer
Windows
- Close all software programs running on your computer.
- Turn on the printer.
- Click the Download button on this page.

- Download the file. For the location where the file is saved, check the computer settings.
