The supported operating systems for Windows are Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. The minimum processor type includes Intel Pentium II 233 MHz or more significant for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. However, the manufacturer recommends an Intel Pentium 4 or higher. For Windows Vista and Windows 7, 800 MHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor must be present in the least. However, for these versions of Microsoft Windows, the required processor is 1 GHz or higher.
Windows 2000 and Windows XP also requires a RAM size of 128 MB, but HP recommends 256 MB of RAM. For Windows Vista and Windows 7, a 512 MB of RAM must be present while 1 GB or higher is the recommended size. The free hard disk space on the system before installation must be a minimum of 795 MB for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Whereas, the minimum space for a system with Windows Vista and Windows 7 is 850 MB.
In addition to these, there should be a CD ROM and Writer with a Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or higher.

HP Officejet K7100 driver supported Macintosh Operating System versions include Mac OS X 10.3.8 and higher, as well as 10.4.6 or higher. These require a 400 MHz Power PC G3 processor especially for OS 10.4.6 and higher versions. Windows
- Close all software programs running on your computer.
- Turn on the printer.
